DOVES of Gateway
Domestic Violence Emergency Services of Gateway, or DOVES, is a non-profit organization that provides safe shelter and free services to domestic violence victims. DOVES is located in Morehead, KY and serves the following counties: Bath, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan and Rowan.
In addition to providing a safe environment for survivors and their children, programs now offer a variety of supportive services to both shelter residents and non-residential participants. Their 24 hour professionally staffed hotline helps with information and referrals, and from there, they can provide individual case management, from basic needed items and safety planning to assistance with obtaining housing. They offer counseling and support groups, as well as Hospital, Childrens', Court and Legal Advocacy. Some of their education programs include life skills, personal finance, self-esteem, parenting, and healthy relationships. DOVES is also committed to preventing future domestic violence through public awareness and community education efforts.
Domestic violence is a serious but sadly widespread crime that affects people of all races, ages, gender, and income levels. Over four million Americans are affected each year, and one in three have witnessed an incident. Only a coordinated community effort will put a stop to this crime, and this change can begin with you.
