The Rowan County Fiscal Court has determined that there is a finding of no significant impact for the Eastern Light Distillery project in Rowan County, for the purpose of providing assistance to a local nonprofit agency, the Morehead-Rowan County Economic Development Council (EDC). In its efforts to facilitate new job creation in the area, the EDC plans to use these funds to purchase equipment for a new local manufacturer. The EDC will then lease this equipment to the manufacturer for job creation, will have no significant impact on the human environment.

Color designs for eighteen bi-bond mural panels will be selected by an anonymous jury. The final panel designs will be painted on 5 X 5-foot panels by the original selected artists using paint and panels provided by the Morehead Rotary Club. The finished panels will be mounted in a quilt-like design to make a community mural when all the artists have delivered their panels.

With telework and telehealth now vital parts of our local economy, Rowan County is in urgent need of an update to its broadband maps. A free disposal day has been scheduled for Saturday, October 3 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Advanced Disposal Services Landfill in Rowan County, located at 300 Old Phelps Road.

After a year of back and forth meetings, planning, discussions, and revisions the Morehead-Rowan County Strategic Plan is complete.

Rowan County Judge Executive Harry Clark and Laura White-Brown, Mayor of the City of Morehead will be holding a live press conference on Friday, March 20, 2020, at 6 p.m.

A public hearing will be held by Rowan County Fiscal Court at the Rowan County Courthouse on March 17, 2020 at 9: 15 A.M. for the purpose of obtaining citizens comments regarding the possible uses of LGEA funds.

The Kentucky Transportation Department of Highways District 9 has provided us with some updates on their projects in Rowan County.

Crews from the Rowan County Fiscal Court and Detention Center go out weekly to clear your roadsides of litter and debris. Unfortunately, we often find these roadsides in the same poor shape a week after we clear them.

As we begin a new year, it presents a good opportunity to take stock of our position. I think it’s important that we reflect on the lessons we learned, accomplishments we’ve shared in, and all that’s happened this past year in Rowan County.

On behalf of the Rowan County Fiscal Court, a check for $10,000 was presented last night to the Elliottville Fire Department by Judge Executive Harry Clark, County Attorney Cecil Watkins, and Magistrate Charlie Winkleman.
